EI: Still reeling from summer assault, Gaza faces new Israeli threats

My latest feature at The Electronic Intifada tells the story of Muhammad al-Gharib, who lost his father and 16-year-old sister in an Israeli airstrike near their home in the city of Rafah in southern Gaza.

While Palestinians in Gaza are being denied the right to rebuild their homes and communities, international inaction and strict Israeli restrictions have led to a tightening of the siege. Entire neighborhoods throughout the Gaza Strip remain flattened beyond recognition.

Yet, people who lost relatives and other loved ones say that the infrastructure can eventually be rebuilt, but the lives taken can never be replaced.
