EI: Gaza prisoner barred from seeing son for nine years

Palestinian cartoonist Mohammad Sabaaneh’s cartoon about the difficult conditions Palestinian prisoners from the Gaza Strip face while in Israeli lockup.

My latest feature story at The Electronic Intifada explores the human impact on Palestinian families in the Gaza Strip whose loved ones are locked up in Israeli prisons.

Jehad Saftawi, a 23-year-old Gaza-based journalist, has not seen his father in more than nine years as a result of Israel’s strict visitation policies. With more than 6,500 Palestinians in Israeli lockup, his family’s case is not unique.
