MEE: Palestinians in Israel and the West Bank enduring arrest campaign

Despite Israeli lynch mobs and extreme rightwing demonstrations, no Jewish Israelis have been prosecuted since demonstrations broke out across the country on July 2. (Photo: AFP)

My latest feature story at Middle East Eye reports on Israel’s ongoing arrest campaign targeting Palestinian citizens of Israel and their compatriots in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem.

Since Israeli settlers on July 2nd kidnapped and murdered Palestinian teen Muhammad Abu Khdair, more than 800 Palestinian citizens of Israel have been arrested, more than 600 in East Jerusalem, and another 1,000 plus in the West Bank. As reported in my article, for Palestinian citizens of Israel specifically, the campaign marks the largest wave of arrests since the beginning of the Second Palestinian Intifada (uprising) in October 2000.
